Stephen is a pioneering leader who creates technology-driven solutions that solve difficult business problems. He challenges norms in a constructive manner, engages others in the vision and ultimately delivers value to an organization and its customers. Steeped in industry knowledge and accomplished at generating unconventional approaches, he delivers to the bottom line. Stephen thrives on the never-ending array of opportunities to apply technologies in the right place, at the right time and in the right way.  He has provided expert commentary on topics ranging from data security to cloud computing, and has been featured on Bauer Business Focus, NPR and CBS Radio.

Prior to BlueSky, Stephen was the Consulting Principal, CTO and Partner with MRE Consulting, a firm that offers both business and technology guidance and ranked as #1 consulting and system integrator for trading and risk management by CommodityPoint in 2014.  Before MRE, he founded StratITsphere Data Center Solutions, transitioned the company to a private equity investor and then served as CEO.  He drove innovative award-winning solutions and achieved investor targets focused on growth of cloud, colocation, consulting and outsourcing services. Previously, he was the top technology executive at BG Group, a multinational oil and gas company recently acquired by Royal Dutch Shell, where he served as VP and CTO for global infrastructure strategy and delivery.  Earlier, Stephen held positions with Accenture and Calpine Corporation in leadership roles in solution architecture, enterprise architecture, infrastructure services, and operations management.

Stephen has received numerous recognitions from the IT community including listing on the MSPmentor250’s “Top People in Managed Services” in 2014 and CRN’s “Next-Gen 250 List of Groundbreaking Technology Companies” for his work at StratITsphere in 2011 and 2012. Stephen holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Houston and a BA in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin.

Virtual Cooking Classes with BlueSky!

While in person events have taken a backseat this year BlueSky IT Partners has joined forces with James Beard Award winning chef Chris Shepherd to keep the good times going (from a safe distance of course!). BlueSky IT Partners welcomed their new Business Development Executive, Matthew Clayton to the organization in July of 2020.

Clayton has over 28 years of experience in the IT/Telecommunications space, spending the last 19 years primarily focused on the Oil and Gas Industry.  He spent 10 years at Schlumberger in multiple roles, ending his time there in global sales of MPLS/VSAT to global clients. He has provided solutions on five continents and a multitude of global offshore locations to everyone from supermajors, service providers, and small independents. He has provided MPLS, fiber, microwave, wireless, LTE, cloud, IOT, satellite, and integration solutions during his career. During that time, he also lived in the UK and Brazil on international deployments.

He thrives on working with his clients to bring creative solutions to solve difficult business issues and increase efficiency and value to their bottom line. Finally, he also has 4 patents on an offshore oil spill sensor that he and a development team created while working for Schlumberger.

An evening with DEA agents Javier Pena and Steve Murphey – taking down Pablo Escabar – what really happened!

DEA special agents Javier Peña and Steve Murphy were assigned as the lead investigators targeting drug cartel Pablo Escobar and his organization. These true American heroes provided a lesson in history as they discussed their efforts bringing down the world’s first narco-terrorist, the challenges they faced in oftentimes hostile and life-threatening environments, and the innovative strategies they employed to successfully end the reign of terror of the world’s most wanted criminal. Their presentation was followed by a Q&A opportunity during which Javier and Steve answered questions related to their investigation, the making of the hit Netflix show ‘Narcos’, what history changing investigation is next for them.

Tee Up with Texans Raises $74,000
Houston Texans’ cornerback, Kareem Jackson, hosted his first annual Tee Up with Texans at the TopGolf Houston-Katy with the event raising $74,000 for the Kareem Jackson Foundation which looks to provide opportunities and resources to families with children battling cancer and women battling breast cancer.

Jackson was joined by teammates, JJ Watt, Johnathan Joseph and more than a dozen more, as they traded in their helmets and uniforms for clubs and tees as they become celebrity golfers for the evening full of point-scoring golf games alongside fans and foundation supporters. Drew Daugherty from Texans TV served as emcee while guests enjoyed drinks, great food, fun golf games, and exciting auctions.

“This is a cause near and dear to my heart with my sister and mother both cancer survivors,” said Jackson. “I am so thankful to all those who came out to support me and the Foundation.”

Proceeds from the event will go to fund programming for the Kareem Jackson Foundation. There are two marquee programs launching later this year. The Pretty in Pink luncheon will honor women who are battling and those who have achieved victory over breast cancer with VIP treatment. Also the Foundation will be hosting Christmas in July which will provide patients and their siblings with an unexpected special day to lift spirits. Each July, Kareem will partner with one of Houston’s Children’s Hospitals and a team of elves to pass out gifts to those in need.

Club TPC - BlueSky Wins President's Award
Petaluma, CA (October 17, 2016) – At the annual Intelisys Partner conference, welcoming more than 1,000 Sales Partners, Supplier Partners and guests in the cloud and telecom industry, BlueSky won the President’s Club Award.  The Club TPC Membership is for significant 2016 achievements in billings with a more than 20 percent increase on last year’s billings.

2nd Annual SIM CIO Charity Golf Tournament
BlueSky IT Partners (BlueSky) was a proud sponsor at the 2nd Annual CIO Charity Golf Tournament on April 25, 2015. The tournament hosted by the Houston chapter of SIM (Society of Information Management) was held at the Golf Club of Houston, one of the premier golf courses in Texas and home of the Shell Houston Open. Despite the initial thunder and delayed start, the teams played 18 rounds with proceeds promoting local STEM-based educational and nonprofit organizations included AITP and Genesys Works.

Channel Partners 360° Award 2015
BlueSky IT Partners was among 50 recipients of this year’s Channel Partners 360° Award. The awards ceremony was held during the Spring 2015 Channel Partners Conference & Expo, March 16-18, 2015, in Las Vegas. Hundreds of applications are received each year from agents, VARs, dealers, systems integrators and consultants selling IT and telecom services.
BlueSky is a recipient of the 2013 and the 2014 Channel Partners 360° Award. When asked the reason for the company’s continued success, Meg Toups, Founder and CEO, said “BlueSky IT Partners still believes that the most important attribute a business can supply is delivering a dependable and high quality service, done right the first time.”
